First and Second Year Day School Courses will only be available if a suitable number of students apply. This varies from year to year and can only be confirmed when the deadline for student applications passes. First Year: Foundational Teaching and Ministry Program
Before the practical aspects of ministry can be explored, it is very important that each student has a firm foundation in the Word of God. This includes the understanding of God’s unconditional love, the balance between grace and faith, relationship with God, godly character, the basics of righteousness, the Holy Spirit, prosperity, Bible covenants, keys to personal growth, life vision, and much more.
First-year courses include: A Sure Foundation, Relationship with God, Basics of Righteousness, Receiving from God, and Old Testament Survey to name just a few of the many courses.
The curriculum was designed to give students a solid biblical foundation with an emphasis on faith, grace and walking with the Holy Spirit through the work of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In addition to classes, first-year students are required to volunteer 25 hours each term (3 months) in practical ministry either in a local church, Andrew Wommack Ministries, Charis Bible College, or other CBC-approved Ministries.
There are many opportunities to serve depending on your interests, talents, and availability.
Upon completion of the first-year program, students receive a certificate of promotion and are eligible to enter the Second Year Programme at Charis Bible College.
Second Year: Advanced Instruction and Practical Training Program
A student must provide an Official Transcript of their completion of high school in order to receive our accredited Associates degree. If a student cannot provide an Official Transcript verifying that they have completed high school they will receive a Diploma of Biblical Studies at the end of the second year. In the second year, the emphasis moves to practical ministry. In small interaction groups, students learn to do the work of the ministry. They conduct weddings, funerals, and baby dedications and learn how to prepare and deliver messages. Second-year students are also required to take one foreign mission trip with more information about the mission trip below. Important elective classes are also available to second-year students to help further equip them in biblical study and practical ministry.
Second-year courses include: New Testament Survey, Ministry of Excellence, Discipleship Evangelism, and Making of a Minister further progress your training. In addition to regular classes, students also engage in Inter-Action Groups (IAGs) – small workshops designed to help you fine tune and practice skills such as public speaking, preparing teachings, prayer, etc.
All second-year students are required to go on a CBC planned mission trip as part of their requirements for graduation. We believe that mission trips are a valuable part of ministry training. Students learn how to function as a team in a foreign culture and unfamiliar surroundings, as well as having a practical experience on sharing the Gospel and communicating through an interpreter. These are life-changing trips for all our Charis students. Even if you don’t plan to minister on foreign fields, these trips will expand your world vision and grant you insight to help those who are called to missions.
CBC mission trips are typically between 7-10 days in length. Trips are scheduled throughout the school year and require students to minister through teaching, evangelism, prayer, and drama to both adults and children of different nations.
Locations change from year to year based upon hosts and scheduling restrictions. Previous locations for Dewsbury to date have included: Montenegro, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Italy, South Africa and within the UK.
Mission trips are financed through college supported fund raisers that students will organise throughout the year. Students can also fund raise individually outside of college team events. Any balance left to be paid from a student’s trip will need to be paid by the student’s themselves before they can graduated at the end of their second year.
Upon successfully completing the second-year program, students will receive a certificate in Biblical Studies.
